Actress Léa Seydoux returned to the shooting conditions for Abdellatif Kechiche’s film "The Life of Adele".
This
December 29, Léa Seydoux is showing in the film adaptation of
"Tromperie" by Philip Roth, directed by Arnaud Desplechin. The
feature film examines the love life of a writer. On this occasion, the actress
confided in an interview for the "Figaro". She returned to another
film which marked her a lot: "The Life of Adele" by Abdellatif
Kechiche. "The movie was super tough to shoot," the actress explains,
referring to the many sex scenes in the script that the director was very
exacting about. “I realized he really wanted us to give him everything. Most
people don't even dare ask what he asked of us, and they do it with more
respect, "she told The Daily Beast at the time. Today, Léa Seydoux says
that things have changed in the industry: “The cinema has become aware of
certain things. From now on, I sign nudity clauses in my contracts on
Anglo-Saxon films. This is the case with “Crimes of The Future” by David
Cronenberg, which I just shot. I have the right to oversee. "
"WE
HAD SUFFERED SO MUCH FOR THIS FILM"
“It's very
ambivalent, not just horrible. I still think Kechiche has a lot of talent. But
I wonder if it would be possible to make the film today under the same
conditions. The team, the production, witnessed this. They wouldn't accept it
anymore, ”she says of the experience. The film won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes
Film Festival in 2013. An even greater consecration given the efforts made by
Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos to play their characters. “We had suffered
so much for this film, the Common Palm referred to something symbolically
strong. We have to believe that the jury understood the exceptional nature of
the process, a film in which it would be impossible to separate the filmmaker
from his actors, ”she concludes.
